Blocky Fraud Filter IP Blocker vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
Blocky Fraud Filter IP Blocker and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty are both Shopify apps leveraging geolocation, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. Blocky is positioned as a security and fraud prevention tool, focused on blocking unwanted traffic based on email, phone number, IP address, country, and VPN/Proxy usage. Its strength lies in protecting merchants from bots, scammers, and other malicious actors, particularly during high-traffic periods. Selecty, on the other hand, focuses on enhancing the international customer experience and boosting global sales. It leverages geolocation to display the correct prices, language, and currency to customers based on their location, and facilitates seamless market switching. The target audience for Blocky is merchants concerned about fraud, bot traffic, DMCA claims, and store security. Selecty is targeted towards merchants looking to expand internationally, optimize their Shopify Markets setup, and improve the shopping experience for global customers. While both utilize geolocation, Blocky uses it to block undesirable traffic, while Selecty uses it to personalize the customer experience and drive international sales. Selecty supports integration with Shopify Markets and Global-e, which is a major differentiator.

Common Questions
Can Blocky help me increase international sales?
Blocky's primary focus is on fraud prevention, not increasing international sales. While it can provide visitor analytics, it doesn't offer tools to personalize the customer experience or facilitate international market switching.
Does Selecty offer any protection against bots or fraudulent orders?
Selecty's core functionality revolves around geolocation and market optimization. It does not directly offer bot protection or fraud prevention features like Blocky does.
Is Blocky suitable for merchants who primarily sell within their own country?
Yes, Blocky can still be valuable for merchants focused on their domestic market as it protects against bots, scammers, and copycats regardless of location. IP and email address blocking are useful even without a global presence.
Does Selecty integrate with all international e-commerce platforms?
Selecty's description specifically mentions integration with Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets. It may or may not have integrations with other platforms. You should consult their documentation for a list of all supported platforms.
Is one app easier to use than the other?
It's difficult to objectively assess ease of use without user reviews focused on this aspect. However, Blocky's focus on blocking and security may involve more technical configuration, while Selecty's interface might be more geared towards marketing and international expansion settings, leading to different perceived ease of use depending on the merchant's skillset.
