Barcodify ‑ Customer Selector vs Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builderfor Shopify (2026)
Barcodify - Customer Selector and Shopney - Mobile App Builder are both Shopify apps aimed at enhancing customer loyalty, but they address this goal through very different approaches. Barcodify focuses on streamlining in-store customer identification and checkout processes using barcode technology, integrating with existing POS systems. Shopney, on the other hand, provides a comprehensive solution for creating native iOS and Android mobile apps for a Shopify store, aiming to improve customer engagement, retention, and sales through mobile-optimized experiences and push notifications. The core difference lies in their channel focus: Barcodify is designed for physical retail locations, while Shopney is geared towards mobile-first or omnichannel strategies. While both apps have perfect 5/5 ratings, Shopney boasts significantly more reviews (684) compared to Barcodify (5), indicating a larger user base and likely a more established presence in the Shopify ecosystem. This discrepancy in review count is a key factor to consider when evaluating the reliability and maturity of each app. Barcodify centers on optimizing in-person interactions through quick customer identification, whereas Shopney concentrates on providing customers a dedicated mobile app experience to foster customer loyalty and increase sales through personalization and convenience.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily operating in physical retail locations with a need to streamline customer identification and loyalty program integration at the point of sale, Barcodify - Customer Selector is the more suitable choice. Its focus on barcode scanning offers a direct solution for improving checkout efficiency and managing customer loyalty programs in a tangible store setting. However, it is hard to get a good impression about Barcodify because it only has 5 reviews.
Conversely, for online stores seeking to create a dedicated mobile app experience for their customers, drive mobile sales, and improve customer retention through personalized engagement and push notifications, Shopney - Mobile App Builder is the clear winner. While it requires an investment in app design and management, the potential for increased mobile sales and customer loyalty makes it a worthwhile investment for the right type of Shopify store. Shopney is better suited for businesses looking to improve mobile conversion rates.
