Back In Stock ︱Restock Rooster vs WAX: marketing on WhatsAppfor Shopify (2026)
Back In Stock ︱Restock Rooster and WAX: marketing on WhatsApp both aim to boost sales but target different customer journeys and communication channels. Restock Rooster focuses specifically on recovering sales lost due to out-of-stock products by providing a "Notify Me" button and automated restock alerts via email. It emphasizes ease of use with a two-click installation and customization options to match brand aesthetics. Conversely, WAX is a broader WhatsApp marketing platform designed to drive sales and retention through conversational marketing. It allows merchants to create marketing campaigns, build automated customer journeys, and chat directly with customers on WhatsApp. While Restock Rooster targets a specific pain point (out-of-stock revenue loss) with a simple, focused solution, WAX provides a more comprehensive marketing suite utilizing WhatsApp as a key channel. WAX is geared towards merchants seeking to build direct relationships with customers through conversational marketing and leverage the high open rates associated with WhatsApp. Restock Rooster aims to passively recover revenue via email notifications and is likely easier to set up for immediate impact.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with recovering lost sales due to out-of-stock items and preferring a simple, email-based solution, Back In Stock ︱Restock Rooster is the clear choice. Its two-click installation, straightforward functionality, and focus on email alerts make it easy to implement and manage.
However, if a merchant is looking to build a strong customer presence and improve sales across multiple stages of the buyer journey using WhatsApp as a marketing channel, WAX: marketing on WhatsApp is the superior option. Its conversational marketing capabilities, automated flow builder, and integration with support tools provide a more comprehensive and engaging customer experience. WAX might be especially appealing to merchants serving markets where WhatsApp is heavily used, but the complexity of creating flows should be considered.
