AW Store Locator vs Scan2Addfor Shopify (2026)
AW Store Locator and Scan2Add, while both falling under the 'Selling in person' category on Shopify, address entirely different needs. AW Store Locator focuses on helping merchants with physical store locations guide customers to their stores. Its strength lies in its store management capabilities, map customization, and automated location detection. In contrast, Scan2Add optimizes the in-person point-of-sale (POS) experience by allowing staff to quickly add products, customers, and discounts to a cart via barcode or QR code scanning, streamlining the checkout process and reducing manual searching. AW Store Locator targets merchants with multiple brick-and-mortar stores or dealers and want to improve the customer journey to their physical locations. Scan2Add is geared toward merchants utilizing Shopify POS and prioritizing efficiency and accuracy during in-person transactions. Our Verdict
AW Store Locator is the clear choice for businesses with multiple physical storefronts needing to improve their online presence and guide customers to their stores. Its map customization and automatic location detection enhance the user experience, making it easier for customers to find the nearest store. On the other hand, Scan2Add is ideal for businesses heavily reliant on in-person sales using Shopify POS. The app's ability to rapidly add products, apply discounts, and associate customers via scanning significantly speeds up transaction times and reduces errors. For a merchant choosing between the two, their physical business structure and POS usage are critical determining factors. Given the higher number of reviews, AW Store Locator has more proven real-world usage.
Common Questions
Does AW Store Locator integrate with Shopify POS?
Based on the description, AW Store Locator focuses on website integration to display store locations and does not appear to directly integrate with Shopify POS. It focuses on the pre-purchase stage of finding a physical location.
Can Scan2Add be used on a regular Shopify website?
No, Scan2Add specifically mentions its use with the Shopify Point of Sale (POS) app and native UI extensions. It isn't designed for the online store front end.
Which app is easier to set up?
It's difficult to definitively say without user reviews discussing ease of setup. However, Scan2Add's description suggests a straightforward setup with native UI extensions in Shopify POS. AW Store Locator may require more customization to match the website's look and feel.
Which app provides a better ROI for brick-and-mortar stores?
It depends on the store's primary pain points. If customers struggle to find store locations, AW Store Locator offers a clear ROI. If checkout lines are long and errors frequent, Scan2Add's speed and accuracy provide a more direct ROI.
Does either app offer analytics tracking customer behavior?
Neither app description explicitly mentions analytics. AW Store Locator may offer some basic tracking of map usage, but this is not guaranteed. Scan2Add is unlikely to track granular customer behavior beyond what Shopify POS already provides.
