AVP ‑ Age Verification Popup vs COD King‑COD Fees & OTP Verifyfor Shopify (2026)
AVP ‑ Age Verification Popup and COD King‑COD Fees & OTP Verify are both Shopify apps that aim to improve the merchant's store, but they address completely different needs. AVP focuses on legal compliance and age restriction, targeting merchants selling age-sensitive products like alcohol, tobacco, or regulated goods. Its primary function is to verify the age of customers before they can access the store or checkout, using customizable age verification popups and birth date verification. This helps protect the store and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. COD King, on the other hand, tackles the problem of 'Return to Origin' (RTO) and fake Cash on Delivery (COD) orders. It targets merchants who experience significant losses due to these issues, particularly in regions where COD is a popular payment method. The app offers features like OTP verification, upfront/partial payments, and COD fees to discourage unserious buyers and convert COD orders to prepaid ones. While AVP protects the merchant legally, COD King protects the merchant's revenue and profitability by minimizing losses related to order fulfillment and returns. They both fall into the 'Notifications' category because COD King uses SMS and WhatsApp for OTP verification.
