Avis Product Options, Variants vs OPTIS Color Swatch Variantsfor Shopify (2026)
Avis Product Options, Variants and OPTIS Color Swatch Variants are both highly-rated Shopify apps (5/5) focused on improving the product variant selection experience. However, they appear to cater to slightly different needs. Avis, with significantly more reviews (1366 vs 100), likely has a broader feature set appealing to a wider range of merchants seeking general product customization and variant management. OPTIS, on the other hand, positions itself more specifically as a visual variant tool, emphasizing color swatches, image galleries, and combined variant listings, suggesting a focus on apparel and other visually-driven product categories. OPTIS prioritizes a visual and intuitive shopping experience, focusing on turning "messy catalogs into a clear, visual buying experience." This emphasis on visuals and SEO-friendly combined variant listings, along with 24/7 live support for conversion optimization, indicates a strong focus on increasing sales through improved presentation. Avis, given its large review count, might be a more established general solution that's been iterated on for a larger and more diverse userbase. The lack of feature specifics for Avis makes it difficult to pinpoint their exact differentiators, but the high review count suggests solid, general functionality.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling visually-driven products, like apparel or home goods, where color, style, and image variations are crucial, OPTIS Color Swatch Variants is likely the better choice. Its specific features around color swatches, image galleries, and combined variants directly address the needs of these businesses. The 24/7 support focused on conversion optimization is another plus. However, merchants needing a more general or potentially more feature-rich product customization solution for a wider range of product types may find Avis Product Options, Variants to be a better fit, if their variant needs extend beyond visual selection. The significant review count of Avis indicates a potentially more mature and battle-tested platform, even if the specific features aren't highlighted.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on the merchant's specific product and variant needs. OPTIS is ideal for improving the visual presentation and selection of variants, while Avis may be a better choice for merchants needing broader and more general product customization functionality. Consider the product catalog structure and visual complexity of product variants when deciding between them.
