Avis Product Options, Variants vs FlexCon Product Rental, Hirefor Shopify (2026)
Avis Product Options, Variants and FlexCon Product Rental, Hire, while both listed under the 'Custom products' category, cater to fundamentally different business models. Avis Product Options, Variants, boasts a strong 5/5 rating based on over 1300 reviews, suggesting a high level of customer satisfaction for merchants needing product customization features. Its positioning revolves around allowing customers to tailor products through various options and variants. FlexCon Product Rental, Hire, on the other hand, targets rental businesses, offering features like smart rental calendars, inventory tracking, and deposit management. The core difference lies in their functionality. Avis enhances product offerings by enabling customization, while FlexCon facilitates the rental of products. FlexCon's feature set is specifically geared towards rental-specific needs, such as availability management, security deposits, and rental order tracking – aspects irrelevant to Avis's customization-focused target audience. Avis's established user base provides a significant advantage in terms of user feedback and proven reliability, something FlexCon currently lacks with its zero rating and reviews. The choice between the two hinges entirely on whether a merchant needs to offer product customization or manage a rental business.

Our Verdict
The choice between Avis Product Options, Variants and FlexCon Product Rental, Hire is straightforward: If you sell products and want to offer customization options, Avis is the clear choice, supported by its overwhelmingly positive user feedback. Its established track record suggests reliability and ease of use.
Conversely, if you run a rental business (fashion, sports equipment, tools, events), FlexCon is designed specifically for your needs, offering features like rental calendars, inventory tracking, and security deposit management. While the lack of reviews is a concern, if those features are critical to your business, and you are comfortable being an early adopter, FlexCon might be worth exploring. However, given the zero rating and lack of reviews, proceed with caution and thoroughly test the app before committing to a paid plan.
