Avis Product Options, Variants vs Customized: Print Automationfor Shopify (2026)
Avis Product Options, Variants and Customized: Print Automation both operate within the custom products and product variants space on Shopify, but cater to distinct merchant needs. Avis Product Options, Variants, boasting a perfect 5/5 rating from a substantial 1366 reviews, likely focuses on providing robust and flexible product customization options *within* the existing product framework of a Shopify store. This suggests a focus on enhancing product variations and potentially adding personalized elements to already established products. Customized: Print Automation, on the other hand, with a 3/5 rating and only 1 review, is positioned as a comprehensive solution for selling fully personalized products. Its key strength lies in its built-in customizer, allowing customers to upload photos, add text, and preview designs in 3D and AR. This points to a target audience focused on offering truly unique, customer-designed products, possibly without handling inventory directly.

Our Verdict
The choice between Avis Product Options, Variants and Customized: Print Automation hinges on the specific needs of the Shopify merchant. If a merchant primarily requires an app to handle complex product variations, sizes, colors, or materials for established products, Avis Product Options, Variants, with its overwhelmingly positive reviews, is the clear choice. Its maturity and positive feedback strongly suggest stability and effectiveness in this core area.
However, if the primary goal is to offer fully personalized products, allowing customers to create their unique designs with photo uploads, text additions, and 3D/AR previews, then Customized: Print Automation is the more suitable option, *despite* the low rating and minimal reviews. The built-in customizer and print automation features are crucial for this use case, and the option for print-on-demand eliminates inventory concerns. Merchants opting for Customized: Print Automation should proceed cautiously, given the low number of reviews, and thoroughly test the app to ensure it meets their production and customer experience expectations. The substantial rating difference is a key indicator of risk; the merchant will need to heavily weight the feature set against the risk of bugs or poor support.
Common Questions
What is the main difference between the apps?
Avis focuses on offering a wider range of product options and variants, while Customized focuses on personalized, customer-designed products with built-in customization tools and print automation.
Which app is better for print-on-demand?
Customized: Print Automation explicitly offers integration with print-on-demand services, making it the better choice for merchants wanting to avoid managing inventory.
Which app is more reliable?
Based on the significantly higher number of positive reviews, Avis Product Options, Variants appears to be the more reliable and well-established app. However, reviews don't guarantee suitability for all use cases.
Can customers preview designs in 3D with Avis Product Options, Variants?
The information provided doesn't mention 3D previews for Avis Product Options, Variants. Customized: Print Automation specifically highlights its 3D and AR preview capabilities.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
The data available does not directly compare set-up or ease of use. The 'Customized' headline highlights user-friendliness. However, due to the large number of reviews with Avis, documentation and tutorials may be more prevalent, and community support is likely stronger, which may make its learning curve shallow. The low number of reviews on Customized makes it difficult to assess ease of use.
