Appointment Booking App Apntly vs Papertrell ‑ Digital Productsfor Shopify (2026)
Appointment Booking App Apntly and Papertrell ‑ Digital Products address fundamentally different needs for Shopify merchants. Apntly focuses on enabling businesses to accept bookings for appointments, events, and services directly through their Shopify store. It integrates with calendars, Zoom, and offers team member support, automating the booking and scheduling process. This app is targeted at businesses offering time-based services. Papertrell, on the other hand, caters to merchants selling digital products like ebooks, audio, and video content. It provides a secure, branded app experience for customers to access and consume their purchases, complete with built-in readers and players, and customer usage analytics for the merchant. The key difference lies in the products being sold: time (Apntly) versus digital content (Papertrell). Apntly simplifies the process of managing appointment schedules and team member availability. Papertrell focuses on protecting digital content, enhancing the customer experience through a dedicated app, and providing data to optimize marketing efforts for digital products. The significant difference in ratings and reviews (Apntly having numerous positive reviews while Papertrell has none) suggests a disparity in either user satisfaction, maturity of the app, or effectiveness within the Shopify ecosystem. The shared category 'Digital products' is a bit misleading as Apntly treats 'time' as a digital product for sale.

Our Verdict
The choice between Appointment Booking App Apntly and Papertrell ‑ Digital Products depends entirely on the type of products a merchant sells. If a merchant offers services or events requiring scheduled bookings, Apntly is the clear choice. Its features like calendar integration, Zoom connectivity, and team member support cater specifically to these needs. The strong positive reviews reinforce its effectiveness.
Conversely, if a merchant primarily sells digital content like ebooks or audiobooks, Papertrell is designed to deliver those products securely and provide a branded customer experience.
