AlterEgo Virtual Fitting vs Fitting Roomfor Shopify (2026)
Both AlterEgo Virtual Fitting and Fitting Room aim to reduce returns and increase conversions in the online fashion industry by providing virtual try-on experiences. However, they differ significantly in their approach and complexity. AlterEgo Virtual Fitting focuses on creating accurate 3D avatars for customers, offering precise garment sizing and fit visualization. This approach targets merchants willing to invest in a more data-driven and potentially complex system for long-term gains in reducing returns and improving sustainability. Fitting Room, on the other hand, offers a simpler, more immediate solution through photo uploads, providing a quick and easy way for shoppers to visualize clothing on themselves. The primary difference lies in the level of integration and sophistication. AlterEgo requires garment data reconstruction and customer avatar creation, while Fitting Room is a simple widget that utilizes photo uploads. This difference dictates the target audience. AlterEgo is aimed at larger retailers or those particularly focused on sustainability and detailed fit accuracy, while Fitting Room appeals to merchants seeking a quick, low-maintenance solution to boost shopper confidence. The lack of user reviews for both suggests they are either very new or niche, requiring deeper investigation beyond the app store listing.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing long-term return reduction and sustainability with potentially higher setup costs, AlterEgo Virtual Fitting is likely the better choice. The avatar-based system offers a more precise fit prediction, appealing to customers concerned about sizing accuracy. However, for stores seeking a quick and easy way to boost shopper confidence and engagement without extensive setup, Fitting Room is the more suitable option. Its simplicity and seamless integration make it an attractive choice for smaller businesses or those looking for a low-commitment virtual try-on solution. Given the limited review counts, merchants should strongly consider requesting demos of both apps to evaluate their suitability for their specific product catalogs and customer base.
