Airwallex Fraud Protection vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Airwallex Fraud Protection and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, while both categorized under 'Fraud' on Shopify, address fundamentally different aspects of fraud prevention and target distinct merchant needs. Airwallex focuses on sophisticated, AI-driven fraud detection during online transactions, aiming to reduce fraudulent payments and increase payment success rates. It leverages a broad network of transaction data for its AI engine and emphasizes security compliance. Its value proposition lies in safeguarding revenue by preventing payment fraud before it occurs. This is a solution for merchants concerned with credit card fraud and transaction security. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, specifically tackles the problem of fake or unfulfilled Cash on Delivery (CoD) orders, a common issue in markets where CoD is prevalent. It verifies order authenticity through OTP verification via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email *before* dispatch, reducing Return to Origin (RTO) rates and associated costs. Its strength lies in its ease of use and direct integration with messaging platforms. This is ideal for merchants reliant on the Cash on Delivery payment method, particularly those operating in regions like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on accepting online payments and mitigating credit card fraud, Airwallex Fraud Protection is the more relevant option, assuming the AI engine is effective and the low review count is not indicative of deeper issues. Its AI-driven approach and emphasis on security compliance make it suitable for businesses concerned with protecting revenue from sophisticated payment fraud schemes. However, the low rating and minimal reviews should give potential users pause and encourage thorough research.
Conversely, if a significant portion of a merchant's sales comes from Cash on Delivery, particularly in regions prone to fake orders, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the clear winner. Its focus on verifying order authenticity through OTP is a direct solution to the problem of RTOs and wasted shipping costs. Despite the small sample size of reviews, the perfect rating suggests a positive user experience. The decision hinges on understanding the *type* of fraud that poses the greatest threat to the business.
