Age Check Age Verification Ace vs Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fieldsfor Shopify (2026)
Age Check Age Verification Ace and Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields both operate within the 'Legal' category on Shopify, but address vastly different needs. Age Check Age Verification Ace focuses specifically on age verification using a popup mechanism. Its strength lies in its ability to restrict access to products based on age, making it ideal for merchants selling age-restricted goods such as alcohol, vaping products, or sharp tools. It offers customization options for the popup's appearance and functionality, allowing merchants to tailor the age verification process to their brand. Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields, on the other hand, is a more generalized app. It targets merchants who need to collect additional information during the checkout process by adding custom fields. While its sole review indicates positive sentiment, the lack of detail prevents a complete assessment of its capabilities or specific use cases. The primary difference is that Age Check Age Verification Ace is about restricting access based on age, whereas Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields is about collecting more data at checkout. The key differentiator lies in their core functionality. Age Check Age Verification Ace directly addresses legal compliance requirements related to age-restricted products, while Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields provides a tool for gathering additional customer information during checkout, which may or may not be related to legal requirements. Therefore, the choice between the two depends heavily on the merchant's specific needs: age verification or enhanced checkout data collection.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling age-restricted products like alcohol, vaping supplies, or sharp tools, Age Check Age Verification Ace is clearly the superior choice. Its dedicated age verification features, customization options, and higher review count suggest a more robust and reliable solution for meeting legal requirements and preventing underage sales.
Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields may be useful for merchants who need to collect specific information from customers during checkout, such as order customization details or survey responses. However, its limited review count and lack of detailed information make it difficult to recommend without further clarification of its features and performance. Unless a merchant *specifically* needs custom checkout fields that Age Check Age Verification Ace cannot provide, Age Check Age Verification Ace is the stronger choice in most scenarios due to its specialization and existing user feedback.
