Age Check Age Verification Ace vs Terms and Conditions checkboxfor Shopify (2026)
Age Check Age Verification Ace and Terms and Conditions checkbox both address legal compliance needs on Shopify, but cater to distinct use cases. Age Check Ace focuses specifically on age verification, targeting merchants selling age-restricted products like alcohol, vaping products, or sharp tools. It achieves this through customizable age verification popups, enabling customers to self-certify their age, either through date of birth input or a simple Yes/No confirmation. The app prioritizes creating a barrier to entry for underage users. Terms and Conditions checkbox, on the other hand, takes a broader approach to compliance. While it can incorporate age verification, its core function is to secure customer agreement to various policies, including refund policies, shipping terms, privacy policies, GDPR consent, and even import tax disclaimers. It emphasizes reducing chargebacks and disputes by logging customer consent with each order. The app is designed to be highly theme-compatible and flexible, accommodating various types of legal disclosures. Therefore, it is more suited for businesses that need to document agreement to multiple types of terms and conditions, not just age.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose primary concern is preventing underage purchases of age-restricted goods, Age Check Age Verification Ace is the better choice. Its focused feature set, including date-of-birth verification, makes it well-suited for industries like alcohol, vaping, and sharp tools. The slightly higher rating and larger number of reviews (25 vs. 15) might also give some merchants greater confidence in its reliability.
However, for businesses with broader compliance needs extending beyond just age verification, Terms and Conditions checkbox offers a more comprehensive solution. Its ability to log consent for various policies, along with its focus on reducing chargebacks and disputes, makes it a valuable tool for managing legal risks across different aspects of the business. The support available for theme adjustments is a plus for merchants concerned about compatibility.
