AE: Order Editing & Upsell vs WorkMatefor Shopify (2026)
AE: Order Editing & Upsell and WorkMate are both 5-star rated Shopify apps that fall under the 'Orders' category, but they cater to vastly different merchant needs. AE: Order Editing & Upsell focuses on enhancing the post-purchase experience for customers by enabling self-service order editing, address validation, and post-purchase upsells. Its primary aim is to reduce cancellations, support tickets, and returns, while simultaneously increasing average order value. Its emphasis is on customer-facing features and integration with Shopify Flow for automation. WorkMate, on the other hand, is designed as an all-in-one work order management solution primarily for use within a physical Shopify Point of Sale (POS) system. It enables merchants to create and manage work orders, track inventory, manage vendors, and integrate dropshipping workflows. While also handling order-related tasks, it caters towards optimizing back-end operational efficiency by creating sales transactions and allowing order creation. The core distinction lies in the customer-centric approach of AE versus the operational focus of WorkMate.

Our Verdict
For online retailers primarily concerned with improving the post-purchase experience, reducing support tickets, and increasing average order value through self-service order edits and upsells, AE: Order Editing & Upsell is the clear choice. Its Shopify Flow integration also offers advanced automation capabilities. The larger number of reviews also provides greater confidence.
WorkMate is specifically designed for merchants who operate a physical store and use Shopify POS and need a solution for managing work orders, vendors, and inventory within that environment. If work order management, especially in a POS setting, is the primary need, then WorkMate is the more appropriate solution. The small number of reviews necessitates cautious evaluation of fit to specific workflow.
Common Questions
Can customers edit their orders themselves with WorkMate?
No, WorkMate is primarily for internal use by staff to manage work orders, not for direct customer interaction for order editing.

The description doesn't explicitly mention POS compatibility, focusing on the order status page and customer accounts.
Which app is better for increasing revenue?
AE: Order Editing & Upsell directly aims to increase AOV (Average Order Value) through post-purchase upsells. WorkMate focuses on operational efficiencies, which can indirectly contribute to increased revenue by streamlining processes. However, AE has a more direct impact on revenue generation.

AE: Order Editing & Upsell explicitly mentions 3PL integration. WorkMate does not mention 3PL integrations.
