AE: Order Editing & Upsell vs Shopify Order Printerfor Shopify (2026)
AE: Order Editing & Upsell and Shopify Order Printer serve fundamentally different purposes for Shopify merchants. AE focuses on improving the post-purchase customer experience by enabling self-service order modifications, reducing cancellations, and driving upsells. Its key strength lies in its customer-centric approach, providing tools for address validation, order editing, and automated communication. In contrast, Shopify Order Printer concentrates on streamlining the order fulfillment process by providing customizable documents like pick lists, packing slips, and invoices. Its strength is in creating and printing these documents efficiently, aiming to improve internal operations. The target audience for AE is likely larger Shopify stores, or those experiencing significant order cancellation rates or customer service burdens related to order changes. The self-service features and upsell opportunities offered by AE would be highly valuable for stores seeking to improve customer satisfaction and increase revenue. Shopify Order Printer, being a free app, is ideal for smaller businesses or startups requiring a basic and customizable solution for generating order documents, potentially aiming to reduce fulfillment time and improve the overall order experience, with a focus on operational efficiency and document customization rather than direct customer interaction.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to improve the post-purchase customer experience, reduce cancellation rates, and increase average order value through self-service order edits and upsells, AE: Order Editing & Upsell is the clear choice. Its features directly address these pain points and provide a compelling value proposition.
However, for businesses primarily focused on optimizing their order fulfillment process by creating customizable documents such as pick lists and packing slips, and operating on a tight budget, Shopify Order Printer is the better option. While its rating isn't as high, its free price point and core document generation capabilities make it a suitable solution for basic needs. A small business could benefit greatly from it without spending any money.
