8returns ‑ Returns portal vs Wizship: Shipping protectionfor Shopify (2026)
8returns - Returns portal and Wizship: Shipping protection, while both falling under the 'Returns and warranty' category, address fundamentally different aspects of the post-purchase experience. 8returns focuses on streamlining and enhancing the returns process itself, providing a fully customizable, self-serve portal for customers to manage returns, exchanges, and store credit. It's designed to reduce operational overhead for merchants and improve customer loyalty through a positive returns experience. Wizship, on the other hand, centers on offering shipping protection to customers, acting as an upsell during the checkout process. It aims to increase revenue for merchants and build customer trust by ensuring packages arrive safely. The key differentiator lies in their core function: 8returns manages the *return itself*, while Wizship provides *insurance against shipping issues* that might lead to a return. 8returns offers tools for automating and customizing the returns process, generating return labels, and analyzing return data to reduce rates. Wizship provides customizable app blocks for offering shipping protection and allows merchants to retain all the protection fees, profiting when claims are low. They both target improving the customer experience after a purchase, but accomplish it in very different, yet potentially complementary, ways.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with high return rates and seeking to streamline their returns process, 8returns is the clear choice. Its robust feature set, focusing on automation, customization, and customer retention through exchanges and store credit, addresses the core pain points of returns management. The relatively higher number of reviews, although still small at 30, also provides more confidence in its functionality.
Conversely, Wizship is better suited for merchants who want an easy way to boost revenue and customer confidence by offering shipping protection. This is particularly attractive for businesses selling fragile or high-value items, where package loss or damage is a greater concern. However, with only one review, its reliability and effectiveness need further validation. Both apps can be valuable, but cater to different needs within the returns and warranty ecosystem.
